The Thetis Island Local Trust Committee asked staff to put the Abrupt Shellfish file into abeyance and bring consideration of proceeding no further to its November meeting if there is no further activity. The motion carried. [1]
Island Planner Marlis McCargar told the committee there had been no progress on the applicant’s requested community information meeting or engagement with First Nations, and said the last correspondence, on August 31, reported no update. [1]
McCargar said the file had been open for over six months and that staff would contact the applicant about the committee’s decision. [1]
The meeting recording includes the discussion leading to the motion: McCargar said the applicant had made no moves toward a community information meeting or engagement with the nations, and that staff could bring a report in November for the committee to consider proceeding no further. [2]
