Thetis trustees add housing ideas to future project list
The list will include alternative dwelling units, ferry-worker housing and possible rezoning for increased density.

The Thetis Island Local Trust Committee added three housing topics to its future projects list: strategies for alternative dwelling units, ferry-worker workforce housing and the potential to rezone suitable areas for increased density.[1]
The committee approved the addition after discussing a proposal to make housing its major project. Trustees instead supported keeping housing on the future projects list, with staff noting that more information about local housing needs would help define a review.[1]
The minutes say the Regional Planning team was working on housing tools for use across the Islands Trust and would update housing needs assessments in the following fiscal year.[1]
The committee also endorsed a project charter for reviewing marine areas in the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw.[1]
