The Thetis Island Local Trust Committee deferred adoption of proposed amendments to its Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw after Trustee Ken Hunter asked for time to review them and meet with staff. The motion to defer the bylaws to a subsequent meeting carried.[1]
Hunter said he was not comfortable voting before reviewing work done between 2019 and the present, and raised concerns about some of the bylaw wording. Island Planner Marlis McCargar said a meeting with staff could bring him up to speed on the work and address specific questions.[2]
The minutes say Trustee Peter Luckham described the amendments as a lengthy process and said they had been a top priority since 2019. He said he hoped the matter could advance at the next committee meeting.[1]
The committee also directed the applicant for a proposed geoduck aquaculture rezoning to consult with Penelakut Tribe and then hold an in-person community information session on Thetis Island before returning to the committee.[1]

So I'm going to ask your patients, the trustees and staff that we can defer this to perhaps the next meeting because I don't feel comfortable voting on it until I have a chance to look at it.
