The Thetis Island Local Trust Committee approved a development variance permit for existing buildings and structures on Lot 59 on Ruxton Island, including a dwelling, decks, a sleeping cabin, greenhouse, studio, sheds and water tanks. The application concerned structures within required lot-line and shoreline setbacks.[1]

The minutes say the applicant told the committee that some structures had been removed, while moving others was difficult because of their age, condition and location on rock. Staff said water storage tanks are not exempt from setback requirements and that replacing buildings would require a new permit.[1]

The committee approved issuance of the permit in a carried motion.[1]
