The Thetis Island Local Trust Committee voted to add development of a Soil Removal and Deposit Bylaw to its projects list, following discussion of community composting and support for local food production.[1]

The minutes say members noted concerns about introducing invasive species through soil removal and deposit, and that staff could refer to recent soil-bylaw work by the North Pender Island and Salt Spring Island committees.[1]

The committee also asked staff to prepare a discussion paper for its Shoreline and Coastal Protection Strategy project, incorporating feedback from the meeting.[1] The minutes record proposed additions on current and future uses, upland ecosystems at risk, cumulative impacts, hazard areas and First Nations interests.[1]
