The Thetis Island Local Trust Committee gave second and third readings to amendments concerning riparian-area protection, then forwarded the bylaws for approval by the Islands Trust Executive Committee; one bylaw was also forwarded to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs. [1]
The committee amended the land-use bylaw to replace a requirement for a restoration plan prepared by a qualified environmental professional with “best management practices,” and added an information note directing property owners to invasive-species organizations for guidance on manual removal and native planting. [1]
The committee also asked staff to develop a project charter for an information-gathering phase of a Shoreline and Coastal Protection Strategy that includes First Nations engagement. [1]
In another decision, the committee concurred with a proposed TELUS communications tower at 61 Pilkey Point Road, provided it is built substantially in accordance with plans submitted in 2018. The minutes say the proposal is for a 22.0 metre tower with a 4-foot microwave dish. [1]
