The Thetis Island Local Trust Committee voted to endorse a letter to the Cowichan Valley Regional District about the community dock, to be developed by Chair Laura Patrick and the trustees and signed by the chair.[1]

Trustee Peter Luckham raised concerns about the closure and said the committee could ask the CVRD to ensure the facility is retained for emergency medical uses and that the community is kept informed.[1]

The CVRD had closed the dock to vehicle traffic on October 29, 2020, with bollards installed, according to Electoral Area Director Lynne Smith’s report to the committee.[1]

Smith said a conditional assessment by Herold Engineering was completed in June 2020 and would be released to the Thetis Island Port Commission after the CVRD Board meeting on November 25, 2020.[1]
